With soooo many supplements to choose from, reading all of the labels and making a decision can make your head spin!

You know that supplements could help you on your weight loss journey, but which ones should you be taking? Will they break your budget?

There is a lot to know about supplements. But before you throw in the towel, I will share the list of supplements that helped me shed fat on my weight loss journey.

Not only did these supplements help with my weight loss, I didn’t have to take out a loan to get them!

*Before you purchase supplements, be sure to get the OK from your doctor.*

DIM, aka diindolymethane, is a compound that’s found in vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, and cabbage.

DIM helped me with combating other symptoms like bloating and hormonal acne. It’s even been shown to help with PCOS and endometriosis symptoms and weight gain.

In studies, DIM has been shown to help regulate hormones like estrogen. Having a balanced level of estrogen can boost your metabolism and help you lose stubborn weight.

Not only does DIM help with weight loss, but studies have shown that it helps been helpful with prostate and breast cancers.

So yes! Men with testosterone imbalance may benefit from a DIM supplement.

Natures Craft DIM is the supplement that I use to help with balancing my estrogen levels and improving my metabolism for weight loss.

Well, why not just eat broccoli instead of taking DIM? You would have to eat over a pound of broccoli, EVERYDAY, just to get the benefits of a DIM supplement!

This supplement has 150 mg of DIM per capsule and recommends you take 2 capsules daily.

However, it is recommended that women take 100 – 150 mg(1 capsule) and men can take up to 400 mg.

Natures Craft DIM has 60 capsules which is a 60 day supply for women at just $10!

2. B-Vitamin Complex

A B-complex vitamin includes all of the B-vitamins your body needs. Your body doesn’t make B-vitamins so, you can only get them through the foods you eat or supplements.

If you don’t have enough B-Vitamins in your diet, you may find that your energy is low and that you easily gain weight.

B-Vitamins break down the food you eat and convert it into energy. Without B-vitamins, you may feel sluggish and your body may store the unused energy as fat (weight gain).

This is the B-complex vitamin that I have taken throughout my weight loss journey.

60-day supply of B-vitamins cost under $8. I know that the vitamin is a good quality because it has the USP Seal on the front.

This seal let’s you know that this company went through the process of certifying that the supplement is of good quality. (You can read more about it here.)

3. Omega-3 Fish Oil

The thought of oil helping you lose weight can be seem mind boggling. But, Omega-3’s are a part of every cell in your body so, they’re important! and your body and can help boost your metabolism.

Omega-3’s have been shown to help boost metabolism. A boost in metabolism can lead to burning more calories at a faster rate which will lead to weight loss.

Adding a fish oil supplement shed inches in those places that are making it hard to button your pants! That’s good news on any day!

The Nature Made Fish Oil provides 360 mg of omega and is $17 for a 100-day supply (that’s less than $6 a month).

This brand of fish oil is allergen free and contains the USP seal on the front of the label.

4. Probiotics

You’ve probably heard about probiotics for keeping a healthy gut, but studies have shown that probiotics can help with weight loss and fat loss.

On study showed that women who took a daily probiotic loss 50% more weight than the women who didn’t.

Some research shows that probiotics help to suppress the appetite, decrease fat storage in the body, and decrease inflammation in the body that’s linked to obesity.

Bonawell Women’s Probiotic is packed with 35 strains of good bacteria that help support urinary, digestive, and vaginal health.

I recommended this probiotic because one of the strains of bacteria it contains is Lactobacillus gasseri.

In a 12-week study, participants who had lactobacillus gasseri as a probiotic had a reduction in body fat around the midsection AND fat around the organs (visceral fat)!

Fat loss around the organs is a major win because this reduces your risk for heart disease, diabetes, and other serious health conditions.

The cost of Bonawell Women’s Probiotic is only $19 for a 1-month supply!

5. Vitamin D

Your bones, teeth, and immune system all need Vitamin D to look and function their best.

Vitamin D is found in food products, like dairy (if you’re lactose intolerant, this isn’t an option), but our bodies make Vitamin D best from just simply being out in the sun.

But let’s be honest, many of us don’t spend enough time out in the sun so, a supplement could help with Vitamin D deficiency AND it can help you shed pounds.

In a recent study, women who were overweight supplemented with Vitamin D and lost 7 more pounds than the women that didn’t.

Each Nature Made Vitamin D3 pill has 1000 IUs of Vitamin D3 and it comes with the USP label.

Studies suggest that taking at 1000 IUs is the best for optimal blood levels.

The Nature Made Vitamin costs $11 for a 10-month supply!

When used properly and under your doctor’s or dietitian’s supervision, supplements can help to enhance your weight loss journey. Before taking supplements, be sure to eat a healthy diet and consult with your doctor.
