Every Day Pain Is Not Normal...
For so many women, pain is an accessory that is worn every day. Whether it’s back pain when you wake up, a headache that nags you as you sit at the traffic light, or menstrual cramps that keep you in bed, everyday pain takes a toll on you. Even if you push through or ignore it.
Pain and Purpose
Why do we even have pain? It seems like we would be better off without it, right? Well, pain is the body’s way of making you aware that there’s something happening with your body. Although pain feels bad, it’s not always an indicator that something bad is happening in the body. The pain that you experience may be a part of a process that your body needs to get better. “How?” you ask. Well, imagine this:
You’re enjoying your dinner at your favorite restaurant with a great friend. You’re having an interesting conversation about a co-worker who you suspect is stealing everyone’s lunch. Just as you’re about to get to the part where you caught him peeking into Rhonda’s Tupperware on the first shelf of the fridge, the hot soup from your spoon hits your hand! Ouch! The pain hits you and you quickly move your hand away from the scalding soup.
Inflammation and YOU
Immediately, your body starts to release chemicals in your body that help you heal. This is acute inflammation. Yes, it comes with pain, redness, and swelling, but it ensures that your hand completely heals. On the other hand, chronic inflammation is a different story. Like an unwanted guest, chronic inflammation sticks around for way too long and often leads to chronic pain.
Inflammation and ME
Chronic inflammation was the root cause of the mayhem I was experiencing with pain. Chronic pain became a normal part of my daily experience. When I noticed that my pain was slowly reshaping my personality and robbing me of quality time and experiences, I decided to become intentional about pain relief. There were days where getting out of bed felt like climbing a mountain.
A busy schedule or a resilient mindset shouldn’t be the reason you live with pain every day. I decided to make pain relief a part of my everyday routine because I deserved it. One of the biggest ways to fight chronic inflammation and pain is by what we eat. But let’s be honest. Our food choices are not always picture perfect, and supplements are a natural way to help us stay on track.
The Supplement That Changed It All

My chronic pain went from 100 to virtually non-existent with the addition of one powerful anti-inflammatory spice: Turmeric. Turmeric became one of my best weapons against chronic pain. Although turmeric is made up of about 200 compounds, the curcumin in turmeric is what gives it its anti-inflammatory qualities.
I take turmeric as an anti-inflammatory supplement gummy, I use turmeric powder to add flavor and brightness to dishes like sauteed shrimp, pan-seared chicken, and hearty, homemade soups and chili.
Which kind of turmeric is most effective in providing chronic pain relief? Well, turmeric supplements have a higher concentration of curcumin (The part of turmeric that helps fight chronic inflammation and pain). Turmeric supplements have 95% curcumin, whereas tea and powder can have as low as 2%.
One of the best anti-inflammatory supplements that I’ve used is Qunol turmeric gummies. They are highly potent, and they taste amazing! I purchase turmeric powder and tea from the grocery store or Amazon when I forget to grab it.
